Alright nerds, let's figure this shit out. I'll be making notes here as I find more things out. For now I'm bored af on the plane so here's what I know off the top of my head.

Stats
Crit >> Mastery now. Personally I've had some success stacking full Crit. I can get to around ~65% or more on PTR with gems and enchants. Mastery's still good far as I can tell, Ignite is just autopilot bullshit now.

Trinkets
All the HFC trinkets got shit on apparently. DSI+Mastery are BiS now imo.

  • Dungeon mastery trinkets: Definitely useful still, these are untouched in 7.0.
  • Pouch: We're not synchronizing with ring anymore so fuck this thing? Combustion's still on a 2min CD but Kindling changes that.
  • DSI: Frankly I think this is BiS now as far as HFC trinkets go. Mine is socketed so I'm definitely using it.
  • Crit rating trinkets (Kazzak, Piston, etc): I mean, Crit is pretty good. I've been using a Piston on the PTR to max out my Crit but I don't think I'll keep it.
  • Prophecy: We seem to have more shit that can proc this (Cinderstorm, Flame Patch) but the damage is fucking poopy now so why bother.
  • Tome: Still dogshit as far as I can tell. Someone said that the Flamestrike will also apply Flame Patch but I'm assuming that requires you to actually take that talent.

Talents
  • L15: Pyromaniac. For sure the better talent on single-target. Conflagration might prove useful in AoE/cleave.
  • L30: Cold Snap, whatever.
  • L45: Same logic from 6.2 mostly still applies, Rune of Power if you can stand still, Incanter's Flow if you're moving. But the RoP changes means it's a lot more viable on fights with some movement.
  • L60: Flame On for sure. Gives the most control over your damage. Blast Wave is single charge trash. Controlled Burn is more RNG so who knows?
  • L90: From what I've heard Living Bomb still sims closely to Unstable Magic even for single-target. It's alot easier to use now too since they've effectively swapped the duration and cooldown, so now you can just cast it on CD. Can't be spread with Fire Blast.
  • L100: Kindling the obvious choice for single-target, Cinderstorm for aoe/cleave. Have to play with Meteor since it gets added to the Ignite bank now.

Opener
Burst is something like:
  1. Rune of Power
  2. Fireball + Combustion (gives Heating Up when Fireball hits)
  3. Fire Blast (gives Hot Streak)
  4. Pyroblast spam (pray for refreshes from Pyromaniac)
  5. Fire Blast (gives Hot Streak)
  6. Pyroblast spam (pray for refreshes from Pyromaniac)
  7. Rune of Power + Flame On (get Fire Blast charges)
  8. More Pyroblast spam, Fire Blast etc

Lot of testing to be done for openers/rotations:

  • Rune of Power usage
  • Conditions for starting Combustion phase i.e., should we wait for Heating Up or Hot Streak, should we have both Fire Blasts available. Personally I think Flame On not on CD and both Fire Blasts are sensible prerequisites.

The main difference I noticed with opener is that you want to use some sort of Pyro > Instant > Pyro > Instant > Pyro etc.. while combustion is up, this will be much easier with artifact giving us the 3-charge instant thing.

Yeah I've seen similar openers on AT. It's all Pyro/Insta spam.

Latest tuning changes:

Might of the Guardians now increases Arcane damage by 5% (was 3%).
Flame Patch damage increased by 200%.
Mirror Image's Fireball damage reduced by 11%.
Flame On now has a 45sec cooldown (was 40sec).
Cinderstorm damage reduced by 11%.
Jouster now reduces damage taken by 2/4/6% (was 4/8/12%).


The Flame Patch buff might actually make class trinket worthwhile on some fights but idk.

I don't think the extra 5 secs to Flame On's cooldown makes much difference.

Flame Patch damage increased by 200%.


In case you're not aware, this buff is the most ridiculous overpowered buff they've ever given to a class. Flame patch does earthquake level damage now. I was watching Xyronic do 3.2m dps with Flame Patch doing 80%+ of the groups total damage.

Just tested on Beta, the flamestrike from the class trinket does apply fire patch. Therefore class trinket will be unequivocally BIS for any fight with adds; most likely BIS period.

LMAO ok I thought it sounded pretty OP but I never used Flame Patch before so I wasn't sure. I'll have to test it out when I get back.

Note: Flame Patch is bugged right now and does not tick while you are hardcasting spells, therefore the value is greatly diminished.

So far I'm seeing some debate on Scorch vs. Fireball during Combustion/SMP. I'm of the opinion that Scorch+Pyro is way better than Fireball+Pyro. Fireball might hit harder than Scorch but Pyro hits harder than both so the choice seems obvious to me. Only thing everyone agrees on is that if your Fireball won't land in time, use Scorch.

I'm also curious how much Crit rating you would need for Scorch to replace Fireball entirely in your rotation. I might sim it later just for laughs. Without +200 gems the dream is dead anyway.

Like towards the end of that video, he switches back to Fireball+Pyro for his second RoP even though SMP proc is still active. I guess it's for safety if your Crit rating won't guarantee you a Scorch crit with SMP alone.

Nice. I didn't really have mana issues with class trinket even at ~2k haste but if they made it even better then das koo.

Also was able to get back to 1m dps with the scorch version of the opener. Confirmed for best opener.
